June Meeting:
Moebius Knitting
Chan Moore treated us to samples of moebius knitting and gave us tips for success with this technique. The first, and most critical part to conquer is the unusual cast-on, which we practiced diligently. Chan followed up the meeting with an email to all members with links to websites about moebius knitting.

Very Virginia Afghan Challenge
 
President Sharon Dintaman announced our Knitting Challenge in May: creation of an afghan with Virginia as the theme. Guild members are being challenged to create original squares which represent Virginia. We intend to give the afghan to a charity group to be auctioned at a fund-raiser, and completed squares are due by July 25, 2009. Click here to see more of the completed squares.
Guild members can nominate deserving charities by email on our yahoo group. After all nominations are received, we will vote on the charity by online survey, as we've done in the past.

Jane Slicer-Smith Workshop
We are thrilled to announce that our annual workshop will be a partnership with The Needle Lady in Charlottesville, VA. The featured knitting designer/instructor is Jane Slicer-Smith, a well-known knitter from Australia, whose new book is being released this fall.
